CHOOSING THE RIGHT SCHOOL


There are many Truck Driver Training Institutions in operation today. Before committing to one school, we recommend you visit other schools in your area before choosing one to attend. When gathering information from various schools on Truck Driver Training, you should ask each individual institutions the following questions:

  Is the training one-on-one?
  Is all training done in both tandem tractors and trailers?
  How many different types of trailers are you trained on. 48', 53', flat decks and vans, loaded and empty?
  Does the school train on loaded equipment? If yes, how much weight ____ ?
  Is the student trained on a non-syncronized transmission?
  Does the school have a written and oral interview acceptance program?
  Can the school provide verifiable placement statistics?
  Does the school have a third party auditing their facility?
If yes, who performs the audit? _______________
  Does the school keep report sheets on each student, which are signed by both the student and instructor?

  Is the school willing to be inspected by the funding agency?
  What is the classroom ration of students to instructors? __________
  How many hours on the road driving is given to each student? __________
  How many hours of theory are given? ___________

Establish the actual cost of the training. Call the school and ask the cost of the training if you are paying. With a second call, mention you are sponsored through HRDC, etc. and ask for the cost of training. NO REPUTABLE SCHOOL WILL PROVIDE DIFFERENT RATES REGARDLESS OF WHO IS PAYING.
